Contributors to DLNET's collection can submit learning resources
in two ways, i.e., in electronic format as package-interchage files
or in the form of URL links to the resources. In both cases, contributors
will be required to provide "metadata" or basic information
about themselves and the learning resources they are contributing.
Submitting
a Link to the URL Address of a Resource:
-
Contributors
submitting a link to their learning resource will be required
to fill out an online submission form.
The information entered in the form will be used to create a
metadata record of the resource that will facilitate its discovery
over DLNET and the NSDL. The creator of the metadata, if different
than the creator or author of the resource, is required to fill
out his/her name and email.
Contributing a Resource to DLNET:
-
Resources
for contribution must first be processed into a format that
is archivable by DLNET. The format is based on the DLNET's concept
of Learning Objects
in which the metadata (information about the resource) are bundled
with the resource. DLNET has prepared a Learning
Object Packaging Tool to assist the contributor in processing
the resource. For detail information on what the Tool
does and on how to download and use it, click
here. Additional context-based help is provided in
the Tool's Help pages.
-
Once
the resources have been converted into Learning Objects, they
must be uploaded to the DLNET for archival. Contributors must
login to upload their learning objects. First-time contributors
who haven't registered yet at DLNET may do so by completing
the forms here.
