A Quick Guide for Reviewers

By volunteering as a content reviewer, you play an essential role in maintaining the standards of DLNET thereby contributing to NSDL's vision of excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education for all. Serving as a peer-reviewer may benefit you as well by getting you STEM-wide recognition as an expert in the subject area of your interest.

DLNET has put in place a two-tier content review system based on reviews by peers and the public. The peer review is a one-time process conducted immediately after a content is submitted while the public review is a continuous process based on the feedback of the public that have used the content.

  • Peer-based Review: is based on the assessment of the newly-submitted content for its quality, ease of use, legibility and, educational value. A review form has been prepared to assist the peer reviewer in assessing the content. The returns will be used to determine if the content meets the requirements for publishing over DLNET.

  • Public Review: is based on feedback from the public who have used the learning object. The compiled results including annotations by users will be used to rank and identify the content.

To become a peer-reviewer, you must first register at DLNET as a reviewer providing at least one reference person and your areas of interest. Once registered, you will be notified by email whenever contents in areas of your specialization are submitted to DLNET.

For more information on the review process read the Reviewer Guidelines document.
